Comprehensive Programs: An educational program designed to provide a sequence of educational and skill development experiences that lead to multiple workplace competencies. These programs are designed to prepare individuals for job entry and/or career advancement. These programs are considered occupational programs and are included in the institutional self-study, FTE Calculation and student achievement data collection, and are included on the Council on Educational Occupation (COE) approved program list. These programs are included in the NJ State Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL):
Program Description:
The Plumber Assistant/Building Maintenance program provides students with basic plumbing theory and practical experience. This course should enable the student to enter the plumbing industry as an assistant, with knowledge of equipment and methods that should make it possible to reach journeyman status. Cutting & joining pipes, hangers and support, safety valves, water heater, potable water, venting and drains. The building maintenance component is designated to prepare students to enter the building trades industry. The student will be able to perform basic building repairs, such as spackling, sheet rocking, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, asphalt repairs, security/safety blue print reading, wood studs, framing, painting and roof patching.
